Destiny® Mastercard® is an unsecured credit card that provides a solution for credit-challenged people. It offers quick pre-qualification and an opportunity to build your score. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

We’ve browsed numerous Destiny® credit card reviews by users, researched the terms, and inspected the features available to provide you with the most accurate information. Keep reading to find out if this credit card is suitable for your financial needs.

Destiny® Mastercard® Application Process and Requirements

To apply for the Destiny® credit card, all you need is a smartphone or computer and an internet connection. Simply fill out the online pre-qualification form, submit it and get results within minutes. The process doesn’t impact your credit score since the company runs only a soft credit inquiry to review your request and determine whether you meet the Destiny® credit card qualification requirements. And these are:

  • Be 18 years or older (19 in Alabama)
  • Have a valid Social Security Number
  • Have a US IP and physical address
  • Not have an existing Destiny® Mastercard® account
  • Not have had a Destiny® Mastercard® account that charged off due to
  • delinquency

Notably, Destiny® Mastercard® is designed to assist people with poor credit, but there’s no guarantee that you will be approved for a card.

If you qualify for Destiny® Mastercard®, First Electronic Bank will send you a complete cardholder agreement. You will be asked to authorize the right for the issuer to obtain your credit report from one or more credit reporting organizations to verify your identity. In most cases, your new card will arrive within 14 business days of being approved.

Destiny® Mastercard®  Review

Before you apply for a Destiny® credit card, you need to consider its cost. In this section, we’ll discuss the Destiny® Mastercard® fees, deposits, credit limits, and more.

Security deposit & credit limit

Since the Destiny® Mastercard® is an unsecured card, it doesn’t require a deposit. Instead, you’ll have access to a revolving line of credit. If you get approved for the Destiny® Mastercard®, you will have a credit limit of $300.

However, you won’t get the full credit limit because the first annual fee is charged when you open your account. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to apply for a Destiny® Mastercard® credit limit increase because the company doesn’t offer this option.

Destiny credit card fees

The Destiny® Mastercard® charges an annual fee of $59-$99, depending on your creditworthiness. The amount is deducted immediately in one lump sum, so you already have a balance on the card when you get it.

Additionally, a 24.9% APR for purchases will be charged if you fail to pay your entire balance by the due date, which is 25 days after the close of each billing cycle. The APR for cash advances is 29.9%, imposed on the transaction date.

You’ll also be charged $5 or 5% of each cash advance you make, whichever is greater but should not exceed $100. There’s also a 1% foreign transaction fee. Late, returned payments and overlimits will cost you up to $40.

Reporting to credit bureaus

The Destiny® credit card is designed to help you build your credit. It reports your activity to all three major credit bureaus. However, to maintain a good record, you must make payments on time.

Fraud protection

Another positive feature that the Destiny® credit card provides is a Zero Liability protection plan. At no additional cost, this benefit assists you if your card goes missing or gets stolen and ensures that you won’t be held liable if there are any unauthorized transactions on your card.

In addition, the Mastercard® ID Theft Protection includes thorough identity monitoring covering your social security number, email address, debit cards, username, and passwords.

Destiny® Mastercard® Complaints

Although the Destiny® Mastercard® seems like an excellent choice for people with bad credit, it may not be suitable for everyone. There are some Destiny® Mastercard® reviews from unhappy users.

Some cardholders complain that the annual fee eats away their available credit right after activating the card. Many customers also don’t enjoy the fact that there is no credit increase option. The lack of a mobile app is another common complaint.

It should be noted, however, that all these drawbacks are part of the Destiny® Mastercard® terms. They are clarified in the cardholder agreement, and there shouldn’t be any unpleasant surprises for those who read it carefully.

If you don’t want to risk using the Destiny® Mastercard® because of the bad reviews mentioned above, you could always try one of the alternatives below.

Destiny® Mastercard® Indigo® Mastercard® Milestone® Mastercard® Surge Mastercard®
APR 24.9% (fixed) 24.9% (fixed) 24.9% (fixed) 24.99% – 29.99% (Variable)
Credit check Yes Yes Yes Yes
Deposit No No No No
Type of card Unsecured Unsecured Unsecured Unsecured
Credit limit $300 $300 $300 $300 – $2,000
Annual fee $59 – $99 $0 – $99 $35 – $99 $125 for the first year and $96 thereafter
Foreign Transaction Fee 1% 1% 1% 3%
Cash advance fee 5% or $5 (whichever is greater) 5% or $5 (whichever is greater) 5% or $5 (whichever is greater) 5% or $5 (whichever is greater)

In the table provided, you can see at a glance the comparison between Destiny® Mastercard® and three other unsecured credit cards.

Indigo® Mastercard®

There are more similarities than differences in the Indigo® vs Destiny® credit card debate. They have the same line of credit and APR. But depending on your creditworthiness, you may pay a $0 annual fee with Indigo®. All other fees match those of the Destiny® credit card.

Milestone® Mastercard®

Milestone® Mastercard® is also almost identical to the Destiny® credit card, with the same starting limit and APR. However, its annual fee range starts at $35, which is lower than Destiny® Mastercard®’s $59.

Surge Mastercard®

Surge Mastercard® has a higher APR compared to Destiny® Mastercard®, and the foreign transaction fee is 3% as opposed to the 1% for Destiny®. Surge also charges a $10 monthly maintenance fee. However, this card offers a credit increase option of up to $2,000, suitable for cardholders who seek greater spending power.

Final Verdict

Destiny® Mastercard® is an excellent card for those who simply want a small line of credit and an opportunity to build their score. The annual fee and APR are on par with other unsecured cards designed for people with less-than-perfect credit history.

Weigh the pros and cons outlined in this Destiny® Mastercard® review and decide whether this card is the best choice for your financial needs.

  • Available to people with bad/damaged credit
  • No security deposit needed
  • Reports to all three credit bureaus
  • Quick pre-qualification process not affecting applicants’ credit scores

  • Low credit limit
  • No credit increase option
