PetFirst Insurance User Reviews
A good way to find how an insurance company treats its policyholders and how employees respond to customer issues is to read reviews from customers describing their experience with the company. We looked up PetFirst Insurance reviews on multiple online sites to find out what customers are saying.
Unfortunately, most reviews on sites like Trustpilot, Yelp, and BBB are fairly negative to average. All Trustpilot PetFirst Insurance reviews from 2020 are one-star ratings.
On a bit more positive note, PetFirst has an above-average consumer rating on PetInsurancreReview. However, it isn’t among the top 15 best pet insurance companies on that website.
In their positive PetFirst Insurance reviews, customers expressed their satisfaction with the fast and easy claims process. They have also stated that cat and dog insurance rates are reasonable compared to competitors and that the company reimbursed the claims as promised.
In addition, the support team was also praised for being friendly, helpful, pleasant, and efficient.
The most recent negative PetFirst reviews were from customers whose premiums were increased. In fact, when we looked up PetFirst reviews on Reddit, one of the first things that pop up was a post from a user whose premium almost doubled without notice.
Another common complaint is the issue with reimbursing claims. A large number of customers had their claims denied and weren’t reimbursed. According to those customers, their policies should have covered the costs, but they had to foot the bill on their own.
Is PetFirst the Best Pet Insurance?
PetFirst offers a pet insurance policy that is customizable, affordable and has extensive coverage. What makes PetFirst stand out among competitors are the various discounts they offer. The claims can be submitted online and are processed within 14 days. In addition, by choosing the reimbursement level and deductible you are comfortable with, you can increase or decrease your premium to line up with what you can afford per month.

PetFirst vs Healthy Paws
Unlike PetFirst, Healthy Paws has a reputation for being the best pet insurance provider in 2020.
PetFirst falls short when it comes to annual limits to payouts. If your pet has a condition that requires you to pay thousands of dollars per year, you will have to pay out of pocket for the remaining amount owed. In comparison, Healthy Paws doesn’t have maximum annual or lifetime payouts.

PetFirst vs Embrace
Like PetFirst, Embrace will also diminish your deductible if you don’t file a claim – the difference is that Embrace will reduce it by $50 and PetFirst by $25.
Both companies have a 14 day waiting period for illnesses. However, Embrace has a 48 hour waiting period for accidents, whereas PetFirst has a maximum waiting period of 25 hours (the policy is effective at midnight, the day after enrollment.

The option to customize your PetFirst Insurance policy can help you reduce your overall costs. And vice versa: if you don’t mind paying extra, you can receive better coverage. Another way to reduce your pet insurance expenses is to see if you are eligible for some of the discounts offered by PetFirst.

PetFirst Insurance: how much will they pay?
PetFirst offers annual benefits of $2,000, $5,000 and $10,000. So, for example, if you choose a plan with a $5,000 annual benefit, they will only reimburse $5,000 per policy year.
Is PetFirst insurance good?
PetFirst is an insurance provider with years of experience, and the company offers customizable and affordable policy plans. As each pet is different, a policy that is perfect for one pet owner may not be right for you. PetFirst has an annual benefit limit on their plans, which means that if your vet bills exceed that limit, you will have to cover some of the expenses on your own. If you have a cat that is likely to have serious health issues, then the best cat insurance policy would be one with unlimited payouts. However, if you can shell out money for unexpected expenses, and would rather have a lower premium and put the rest in savings, then a policy with a low premium and lower reimbursement level may give you peace of mind. It is also worth noting that some of the negative PetFirst Insurance reviews were from customers that had skimmed over the policy – always read the fine print before enrolling.
What is the cheapest pet insurance policy?
The cheapest policy you can find would be an accident only policy. As pet insurance providers don’t cover pre-existing conditions, this type of policy is great for pets that have chronic conditions that would be excluded from the policy either way – which makes expensive policies not worth it. As the saying goes: you get what you paid for. We researched unbiased opinions on which is the best pet insurance provider on Reddit, and noticed that pet owners usually mentioned the same well-known pet insurance providers. The main difference between providers is the type of coverage included in the basic plan and the coverage that costs extra, the annual payout limit, the range of deductibles possible, and the waiting periods. For the best pet insurance comparison, which will help you find the most affordable policy (that still offers sufficient coverage), we suggest getting a quote from multiple providers. Our PetFirst Insurance review will help you discover the basic differences between providers. However, in the end, the cost will depend on the breed and age of your pet, as well as the state you live in.
Is PetFirst Insurance worth it?
We strived to be as objective as possible when writing our PetFirst Insurance review in order to help you make the best decision. While we covered almost everything you need to know about this policy, there are still a few things to keep in mind. Each insurance company increases the premium with time, as was mentioned in the Reddit post about pet insurance. You will start off with a lower premium and then see your costs increase. PetFirst does decrease your deductible each year you go without submitting a claim. However, they do have annual payout limits. Increasing the annual limit means you will have a higher premium. If you believe that this type of coverage is not worth it for you, we suggest having a side by side look at our PetFirst Insurance review with our other pet insurance reviews.
